Innovative Pattern Cutting - Romina Karamanea

Showcasing beautiful designs by London fashion designer Romina Karamanea (originates in Athens). She did Fashion Design and Product Development at Nottingham Trent University, then she went to Central Saint Martin for Innovative Pattern Cutting.

I can clearly see the Innovative Pattern Cutting directly applied in her recent collection (which is my favorite by far). And I have to say first thing that captured my eyes is really the stunning Fashion Photography! The blood red jewel toned satin cut in an architectural shapes, with just the right amount of stiffness which complements with the fluidity and luster of the fabric, on the skin that seem like an immortal (or corpse like). I could really stare at this photo forever...and the longer I stare the image reminds me of the movie "sin city". There is definitely a common feel to the color and mood manipulation between the two.

Thanks for the tip on Romina. I may do some homework on her and add her to my pattern puzzle series.

Speaking of, I wish your blog were set up to accept comments other than from blogger. If you don't have a blog already, you can't comment (limits the number of comments you'll get since over 95% of visitors don't have blogs). I hate my blogspot blog, haven't updated it in about two years after I moved it to MT. The "new" site is http://www.fashion-incubator.com. There's over 900 entries on anything related to apparel manufacturing including things like the "pattern puzzles" series I mentioned above. If you like Romina and you're into pattern cutting (I've been a pattern maker for over 27 years so a lot of pattern makers and designers hang out on my site), you'd probably also enjoy Julian's pattern school for one. I've got all kinds of pattern download links from arcane places if you like to play with that sort of thing. One cool thing I recently covered was this pattern book from Japan (_pattern magic_). We've been playing with that. Awesome.

Thanks for your comment! I actually changed the setting now to allow everyone to comment on my blog, thanks for your suggestion! I used to program my own blog and have used MT and WordPress long time ago, but I found blogspot has the simplicity and ease of use (especially with the google support) that I needed. You can't go wrong with google!

I checked out your blog and I liked it:) it seems to be professional and educational! It's funny that I actually ordered the book "Pattern Magic" and it will arrive in a few days! I can't wait to read it and write about it on my blog.

It is really nice to meet you (virtually).
